Food Pantry

Our food pantry...

Our food pantry is one of my favorite things that we do for the community! This has become a mission project for the homeless, and their way of giving back and being used by God to be His hands & feet. They organize it, unload the Second Harvest Food Truck, put in bags, and hand out to low income housing residents. We pray with recipients, and even deliver some door to door. They get to experience the joy of doing God's work, and realize the gifts that God has given each of them. Most of them are so beaten down spiritually, they don't see their worth. However, when we start focusing on meeting someone else's needs instead of our own, something powerful happens! God shows up, and strengthens us, fills us with joy, peace, and reminds us that through Him all things are possible. He wants to use us now, not necessarily when we have our act together! If we turn to Him now and allow Him to work through us, our heart starts to change. Transformation is a process, and through prayer, bible study, and service, He can change us from a caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly where we can soar to amazing heights! Please partner with us by funding the $250 price for a half a truck, or by bringing lunch to feed the volunteers (approx. 25), or just by volunteering and working with the homeless that day!

Schedule dates for 2008: May 31, July 26, Sept. 27, and Nov. 15

Our New Emergency Food Pantry!

New food pantry

Thanks to some generous folks at Nova, we have a new emergency food pantry room! We are so thankful & appreciative for their hard work to put in all the shelves, ceiling, and new lights! It's amazing how much more room we have, and what a difference when we can actually see! Thanks so much, Nova! You are an awesome company that will make a difference in the lives of hundreds of people!!

September Pantry

prayer before pantry

What an awesome first day we had for the pantry this month. It was a record number of volunteers, record time we completed unloading the truck and making 200 bags, and record day of prayer, peace, and praise! Praise God!

We do have food pantries that are open to the public for those living in homes in the Mechanicsville area. This has become the mission project for the homeless to experience the joy of helping others. They get to realize the gifts they have received- administration, mercy, or help. They realize that God can use them just where they are, and that’s always an empowering feeling. We always need help on these days, lunch donated, or sponsor the event. Each pantry costs us $300 for the ½ truck of food through Second Harvest.

Taking it to the streets...

Taking it to the streets...

We decided to take some door to door randomly, and it was an awesome experience! One lady came to the door in tears, and said she had just prayed that God would somehow bring her food for her and her 3 children. Her husband was in jail, and she was having problems making ends meet. We came to the door with bags of groceries, and she just broke down and cried. The homeless that were helping got to witness how God hears our prayers, and uses Christians to answer them. They were able to pray with her, and we all left praising Jesus Christ!
